Reducing the carbon footprint of steel strip
USING GREEN HYDROGEN TO PRODUCE LOW-EMISSION HOT ROLLED STEEL STRIP
The use of both hydrogen in direct reduction and scrap steel in the electric arc furnace makes it possible to significantly reduce carbon emissions from crude steel production. Both green hydrogen and scrap steel are in limited supply worldwide, however.
PRECISE TRACKING OF CARBON EMISSIONS THANKS TO DIGITAL PROCESSES
We track and process energy data and carbon emission factors from over 1,000 data points using a method developed in-house. This allows us to disclose the carbon footprint of each individual grade. The process, which is validated in accordance with ISO 14067 and the GHG Protocol, is fully integrated into our ERP system.
