Continuously improving – environmental protection and climate change mitigation in steel strip production

Steel is an amazing material that is 100 percent recyclable. Our high-tech materials play an important role in achieving the energy revolution in numerous applications. Even with all our products’ positive properties, it’s also our duty to make the energy-intensive production of cold rolled steel strip as environmentally friendly and climate-friendly as possible.

Our environmental and energy policy has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 14001 (environmental management) and DIN EN ISO 50001 (energy management) for more than ten years. Our goal is to optimize our environmental performance and energy consumption within the framework of a continuous improvement process in such a way that we conserve resources as far as possible, use energy efficiently, and minimize our impact on the environment. Due to the vital importance of decarbonization, we are focusing our strategy on the increased use of energy from renewable sources and the continuous optimization of our processes’ energy efficiency.

We are committed to the Paris Agreement and are taking on the task of reducing carbon emissions. At our German locations, we are pursuing the goal of ensuring climate neutrality by 2045. We will gradually extend our roadmap for greenhouse gas reduction to our international locations. Our subsidiary in Brazil, for example, is set to become climate neutral by 2050.
